This tape made it’s way to me from an Australian sound-smith who’s previous work had mostly nestled itself in club / beach-rave environs, a world from which I’m admittedly fairly estranged. Altered States is generally a home for friends of mine or people in my more immediate vicinity. But I also have zero interest in being a gatekeeper or limiting my own learning of what other people are up to, it’s hard enough finding out about new and vital music without being an asshole.

  Leading me to 1too’s untitled debut, the tape’s producer also preferring to conceal themself behind the shroud of anonymity for the time being. On first listen, it's clear that 1too is more technically adept at punching in the right combinations of buttons and sourcing less usual tones in their equipment than most. Here, proficiency is combined with an experimental edge. Flirting with immediately digestible, tho’ peripheral-bangers, Untitled maintains a loosely wonk’d sense throughout, finding a perfectly snug home on Altered States.
